What are certifications?

Certifications are short assessments that verify your understanding of a project’s guidelines, quality standards, and task requirements before you start working. Some projects require you to pass a certification before you can access the job. Certifications are unlocked when you get approved for a job that requires one. You can view all your certifications from the Certifications page in your dashboard.

Certification levels

WorkBolt has two levels of certifications:

Platform Level

A one-time certification that qualifies you to work on the WorkBolt platform. This covers general platform rules, quality expectations, and conduct standards that apply to all jobs. You must pass this before you can start working on any project.

Job Specific

Certifications tied to individual jobs or projects. Each one covers the unique guidelines, rules, and quality standards for that particular job. You’ll receive these when you’re approved for a job that requires one.
You need to complete the Platform Level certification first. Job Specific certifications become available as you get approved for projects.

Why certifications exist

The data you produce on WorkBolt is used to train AI models. Certifications ensure that every contributor:
  • Understands the specific project guidelines and rules
  • Knows the quality standards expected for the job
  • Can follow instructions accurately before working on real tasks
This reduces rejection rates and helps you succeed from your first submission.

Certification types

Certifications come in different formats depending on the project:

Quiz-based

Answer questions about the project’s rules and guidelines. You must score above the pass threshold to earn the certification.

Review material

Read through instructions, watch training videos, and confirm your understanding of each section. No scored questions — just acknowledge each block.

Audio transcription

Listen to audio samples and type exactly what you hear. Tests your transcription accuracy before you work on transcription projects.

Combined

A mix of instructional content, quiz questions, and audio tasks in a single certification.

Certification statuses

Each certification in your dashboard shows one of these statuses:
StatusMeaning
Not StartedCertification is available but you haven’t begun it yet
In ProgressYou’ve made at least one attempt but haven’t passed yet
CompletedYou’ve passed the certification and can work on the associated job
Certifications appear automatically when you’re approved for a job that requires one. You don’t need to request them.
