Job workflow overview

Once you’ve been assigned a job (via application approval or a direct offer), it appears in your My Jobs dashboard. Jobs move through a clear lifecycle: To DoReviewingCompleted or Rejected

Starting a job

1

Open My Jobs

Navigate to My Jobs from the sidebar. Your jobs are organized into columns: Recurring Jobs, One-time Jobs, Reviewing, Completed, and Rejected.
2

Select your job

Click on a job card in the Recurring Jobs or One-time Jobs column to open the job detail page.
3

Review instructions

Read the job description, responsibilities, and any specific instructions provided by the project owner before starting work.
4

Begin work

Click the Work on Job button to open the recording platform or workspace where you’ll complete the task.

Job types and how to complete them

WorkBolt has three main job formats, each with a different completion flow.

Recording jobs

Standard recording jobs redirect you to an external recording platform.
  1. Click Work on Job on the job detail page
  2. The recording platform opens in a new tab
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions and scripts
  4. Submit your recordings within the platform
  5. Your submission automatically syncs back to WorkBolt
If the recording URL is not available yet, you’ll see a notice on the job page. Check back later — the project team will make it available when ready.

Conversation jobs

Conversation jobs pair you with another participant for a ~15-minute recorded conversation.
1

Confirm requirements

Before joining, you must confirm:
  • Using earphones or a high-quality microphone in a quiet room
  • Minimal echo or background noise
  • Strong, stable internet connection
  • At least 20 minutes available
  • Agreement not to share personal information (PII) or use inappropriate language
2

Join the queue

Click Join Conversation Queue. You’ll be matched with another participant automatically.
3

Test audio in the lobby

Once matched, you’ll enter a recording lobby where you can test audio quality with your partner before starting.
4

Record the conversation

Follow the given prompt and have a natural conversation for approximately 15 minutes. The recording happens automatically.
All conversation participants must pass a pre-call quality check (network, microphone, and background noise tests) before joining the queue. If any test fails, follow the on-screen suggestions to fix the issue and re-run the check.

Transcription jobs

Audio transcription jobs involve listening to audio clips and typing what you hear.
  1. Click Start Transcription on the job detail page
  2. The transcription workspace opens with audio clips
  3. Listen to each clip carefully and type your transcription
  4. Submit the session after all clips are complete
If you have an unfinished session, you can click Resume Transcription to pick up where you left off. You must complete an existing session before starting a new one.

After submission

Once you submit your work:
  1. Your job status changes from To Do to Reviewing
  2. The WorkBolt review team evaluates your submission against the project’s quality standards
  3. You’ll receive an email notification when the review is complete
  4. Your job moves to either Completed (accepted) or Rejected based on the review outcome
Reviews typically take 1–3 business days. You can check your submission status at any time in the My Jobs dashboard.

Tips for successful submissions

Take time to understand exactly what’s expected. Review the job description, responsibilities, and any scripts or prompts provided.
Ensure your microphone, internet connection, and recording environment meet the requirements before starting work. See Recording Setup.
For recording jobs, stick to the provided script. Deviations are a common reason for rejection.
Partial submissions or interrupted sessions may cause issues. Set aside enough uninterrupted time.
If the platform allows playback, listen to your recordings before final submission to catch any issues.
